Preparatory Courses for AEIS (Admission Exercise forInternational Students)

Course Overview
This is a full-time MOE registered course to prepare international students for the admission exams for placement to Singapore government schools.
Designed by experienced former MOE teachers, the course curriculum is based on the English and Mathematics syllabus set by the Ministry of Education and the admission examinations' requirements and format.
With a focus on experiential learning, the lesson plans involve the use of multimedia and technologies to create an engaging environment for learning. In addition, monthly outdoor excursions are organised to bring the class alive with practical hands-on learning.
Monthly tests are conducted as part of the continual monitoring of the student's progress and thereafter, assessment reports will be communicated periodically with the Parent/Guardian to keep them updated of the student's progress.
Admission Requirements

| Entry academic qualification: | Students must have completed their studies which is equivalent to Singapore Secondary One to Four |
| English language proficiency: | Students have to sit for an English Language Placement Test to assess their English language proficiency before the commencement of their course |
Course Schedule
The academic semester starts in April and runs for 26 weeks (six months), until the student sits for the MOE's Admission Exercise for International Students (AEIS), which is usually held in September/early October.
Lessons are conducted from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
Course Fees
To comply with CaseTrust's requirements, the total Course Fees are separated into 2 components, namely A. Non-Tuition Fees and B. Tuition Fees.
Non-Tuition Fees are payable directly to Nurture Language School- Tuition Fees are payable directly to the School's DBS Escrow Account.
- Our student counsellors will assist you with the payment procedures upon enrolment.
*The above fees are correct as at time of publish. The School reserves the right to revise the Course Fees whenever applicable. Please consult our Student Counsellors for any updates on the Course Fees.
For our international students, the School provides complimentary services such as airport transfer on arrival, booking of hotel rooms, a welcome package and local orientation tour.
What the above Course Fees do not include:
There are bank charges for remitting payments through Telegraphic Transfer (TT), charged by both the Student's (remitting) bank and the School's (receiving) bank. For students paying by TT, please inform your bank that you will bear all bank charges, including the School's (Beneficiary) bank charges.
Where the Student passes the MOE Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) and is successfully placed in a government school, he/she is not required to take the QT.
Where the Student fails the MOE AEIS, he/she will have to approach individual schools for admission. These schools may either require the Student to sit for their own entrance test or accept the Principals Academy Certification Test (PACT) result if they are a participating school of the PACT system. In such cases, the Student is required to take the QT.
The Qualifying Test (QT) is administered by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to assess the student's reasoning abilities and will take about 1.5 hours. Please see MOE's website at http://www.moe.edu.sg/education/admissions/international-students/qualifying-test to find out more about QT.
A medical examination is only required if requested by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) for the processing of the Student Pass.
Living expenses such as accommodation, transport & food are the sole responsibilities of the Student and is not included in the Course Fees. Please refer to the section on Studying in Singapore for a guideline on living expenses.
On a case-by-case basis, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) may require students from the following countries to furnish a security deposit.

Applicants are not required to furnish a Security Deposit if they are
- Nationals from Malaysia and Brunei;
- Holders of valid Dependant's Pass, long term Visit Pass and work pass;
- Children/Spouse of Singapore Citizens/Permanent Residents;
- Below 16 years old at the point of application.
The Security Deposit with ICA can be in the form of a Cashier's Order or a Banker's Guarantee from an established bank in Singapore and is refundable to the student upon the completion of the course.
The Student Pass issued by ICA is for the duration of the Course that the Student is enrolled in. Upon the completion of the Course, if the Student requires a renewal of the Student Pass to pursue another course with the School or to extend another semester of the same course, a subsequent administration fee of S$200.00 for Student Pass renewal/collection is applicable.

Fees Guarantee Policy
Upon payment of the total Course Fees, Nurture Language School guarantees that the student will not be asked to make any subsequent payments to the School. Any fees increases will be absorbed by the School.

Professional Courses
Conversational Mandarin for Non-Mandarin Speakers
[Course Code: LC-001]

Course Overview
This course is designed for non-Mandarin speakers working or studying in Singapore. Participants will be taught Hanyu Pinyin as a foundation to build their competency in the Chinese language, allowing them to converse in basic Mandarin in social settings for entertainment, travelling, with family & friends and at work.
The course involves the use of multimedia teaching aids and participants who missed their class will have the flexibility to review the video lessons online.
Classes are conducted in a group setting and are limited to a maximum of 12 participants per class.
Course Schedule
This course is for Basic Level, consisting of 12 lessons.
A Course Certificate will be awarded upon completion of the Basic Level, subjected to a minimum of pass in the proficiency test held at the end of the course.
Basic Level (total 12 lessons)
Lessons are conducted once a week and each lesson is 1.5 hours.

Curriculum Developer & Trainers’ Profile
Our course developer is a native Chinese, having previously studied in UK at the London School of Economics, where she received both her Bachelor in Economics and Master in Finance, before moving to Singapore. Prior to her teaching engagement at Nurture, she was a former banker with a major investment bank and during her free time, she has been teaching conversational Mandarin for several years to students from diverse backgrounds and nationalities.
Our professional trainers are native speakers from China and are effectively bilingual in English and Mandarin with several years of teaching experience.

Course Overview
3 DAYS HOLIDAY CAMP
Combination of education with funthrough a series of workshops, farm visits, creative science and maths experiments.
Farms� visits are supplemented with handouts that aim to bring the teaching out of the classroom to trigger learning through all the 5 senses.
Interesting science experiments will be demonstrated and hand-ons by students to understand the science behind normal happenings.
Games are incorporated to inject learning in a competitive yet friendly environment. Rounding up the camp is a family time of a BBQ dinner where students and parents will dine together and enjoy a time of family bonding!

AMAZING RACE WITH WORDS
Children embark on a 3-day exciting adventure, competing against time to finish the tasks on the trail. Each task demands that they find essential vocabulary clue, comprehend what is required and apply the answers appropriately in order to move to the next task.
This programme incorporates physically and intellectually challenging treasure hunts, teamwork and learning to race against time and competitors to finish and win the race.

Course Overview
JOURNALISM-INSPIRED TO WRITE
This programme uses both movies and songs for creative writing. It is inspiring and enjoyable to students. As a stimulus to writing, children listen to selected songs and commence on creative tasks in changing words and adding verses. They will also view portions of movies and learn to develop and write character sketches, short stories and poems.
Students will also learn journalistic skills and enjoy writing with a purpose. A field-trip to a farm provides them the opportunity to observe the routine of farm life, interview farm hands and write a captivating report.

Course Overview
This course supplements the understanding of content taught in school, develop the critical skills and techniques required to excel in the GCE ‘A’ Levels General Paper.
At the end of the course, students will learn:

Apart from in-class teaching, an online discussion forum is also used to complement the learning process throughout the week.
The class is conducted in a small group setting and is limited to a maximum of 8 students to ensure that attention is given to individual students while leveraging on the interaction from collective learning to keep the lesson engaging and challenging.

Teacher Profile
Mr. Tan C. C. is a MOE trained teacher with years of experience in teaching the General Paper, Knowledge & Inquiry and Project Work at a junior college ranked among the top 5, where his last appointment was Department Deputy Head.
He is currently pursuing his PhD with the Trinity College of Dublin and remains as an adjunct tutor with the junior college and other educational institutions.
